I had the privilege of growing up in a Christian home. At the age of four, I came home from Awana one Wednesday and told my mom that I wanted Jesus to come into my heart and forgive my sins. With her help, Jesus became my Savior that night. My family moved several times while I was growing up. As a result I had the opportunity to experience public school, Christian school, and home school. It was my teachers in the Christian school I attended who inspired me to go into teaching. I am so thankful for the time they invested in me.

Following high school, I attended Pensacola Christian College where I earned my undergraduate degree in elementary education. I graduated midyear and took my first position teaching 3rd grade at Christian Collegiate Academy in Gulfport, MS. I was thrilled to be teaching and meeting new people, but I kept praying for an opportunity to move closer to my family in Minnesota.  God answered that prayer, though not quite how I expected. In June of 2010, I moved home and worked as the toddler teacher in a daycare position for a year until God opened a door for me at Fourth Baptist. During that time I was also able to begin working on my graduate degree. I began teaching first grade at Fourth Baptist in 2011 and completed my M.A.T in elementary education from Liberty University in 2014. In July of 2017 I married my husband Ivan Pickard. I am looking forward to another great year at Fourth Baptist Christian School.
